Tattooing found me, broke, naked and alone. Ask me about it sometime and prepare for a wild ride. Out of all my hobbies and hustles, tattooing deserved its very own site, separate from the rest of my projects. I'm still working out of Mont

It’s at the core of my being and my story—hence, "KEYSCH."

I’ve built my career over 20 years focusing on being able to serve just about anything coming through the door. Now, it’s time to focus on my own creations and artwork. If I can see it, I can tattoo it, but if you can imagine it I can make it. I’m pursuing creations from my imagination, and I’d love to add your ideas to the mix and tattoo them on you.

Everything I do is Unorthodox. Tell me your wildest ideas.

Tattoo Design Services

offered nowhere else

I use many tools, from drawing right on your body, all the way to full digital paintings and 3D models for tattoos.

My new passion is digital sculpture and it brings a TON of benefits to the way I design for tattoos.

Thinking of doing one of my Wanna-Do projects? I can go as far as making a digital avatar of YOU so we can design ideas on YOU and watch it move.

CONTRAST

Currently I am exploring CONTRAST. Whether via saturation, focus, color, subject matter, texture or story.

For me, tattooing is about making connections. Helping people tell their story through my artwork.

Custom Tattoo Design

I love working on big, creative projects you can’t get anywhere else.

Whether it’s a sketch, a digital painting, or even a sculpture, I’m excited to put my tools to work for you.

Working in 3D gives me the freedom to design and refine every detail—adjusting angles, lighting, and style to perfectly fit your body and aesthetic.

This process is incredibly flexible, right up to the final stages. I use detailed references that allow me to create, reuse, and refine elements along the way. I stay deeply involved in every aspect of the design, even the parts that won’t appear in the final tattoo.

Blackwork

After avoiding "tribal" for so long, I’ve recently discovered a deep appreciation for the beauty of blackwork and sacred geometry.

These designs captivate me, and I often find myself getting lost in them for hours.

Few styles are as striking, or add as much complexity and beauty, in such a bold and direct way.

Surrealism

Tickle my artist bone and let me sculpt your favorite fantasy or monster. I love mythology and want to bring in even more surrealist elements to warp and stretch and slice these creatures to your hearts content!

even from a distance.

I draw inspiration from found natural elements—puddles, fallen trees, alien landscapes, and countless things viewed from a macro perspective. These details, mirrored and warped with the aid of imagination fuel my designs, bringing organic beauty to life in unexpected ways.

FAQs

Your Tattoo Questions Answered by the Unorthodox Expert

Does it hurt?

Absolutely! Generally I hear that it hurts more the closer you get to the important parts. The hinges and organs and nerve endings and what not. Your body is programmed to tell you "ow, quit it" even for the easiest tattoos but the close you get to those important bits the louder it screams at you. That said, people are doing 3-4 days back to back. We pay a lot of attention to pain management. Oddly enough, hot water does a lot of that work for me.

How do I care for my tattoo after its done

I will give you aftercare instructions and if I'm on my game I may even be able to provide it for my larger scale clients. I give instructions, verbally, in writing, and they are also available HERE

How long does a tattoo take to heal

When everything is done right on your end, clients tend to be able to last a few days with the initial covering. I use hot water during the process and make sure I leave time for bleeding at the end. Due to this my clients often don't experience a lot of bleeding or sweating under the bandage however if it it sealed, it is good. Save your sheets!

From there it is about 2 weeks before you are "healed" but it may be another week or two before your skin is back to normal.

Hotel Recommendations?

We are on the side of Missoula near the airport and there are a ton of options. That said, Hilton is one of the closest with a pretty fire restaurant there too. We even have a corporate rate there so if you are planning to travel in, ask for the info. I'm happy to help with transportation.

Can I bring my own design

I really only do my own artwork. I'm happy to look at your ideas and talk to you about your options. When I have time, I do walk-in days at Montana Tattoo Company on a first come, first served basis. Just text walk-in to 406-626-8688 and you should be able to get set up

How do you ensure hygiene and safety in your tattoo process?

At Unorthodox Tattoo, I adhere to strict hygiene protocols. We use sterile, single-use needles and equipment for every client, and am trained in cross-contamination prevention techniques.

What should I do if I'm not sure what tattoo to get

That's my favorite! I love helping my clients on that journey. Generally I start with a zoom consultation. I record these so I can just relax and not take so many notes. I'll ask a lot of questions about your life and style and what you are into. I'll ask WHY you want to get tattooed and how you want to look but the gold, I find, is in those little Easter Eggs you may never have considered. These subject matter tend to be more unique and end up being awesome conversation starters. At the top of the page is a button to book a Zoom call. That's all it takes to get started, no pressure. just a conversation

Where ELSE do you tattoo?

Really, if I'm booking 3 days or more, I'll go anywhere. Doesn't even have to be the same person. I go to conventions and also help shops with their websites and part of my payment is action on a guest spot. That said I'm also into working privately on the road and can generally find a place to work just about anywhere. If the room has all hard surfaces it takes pretty much nothing to cover it in plastic... BOOM, convention style!
